What a support bar does
On taller frameless showers a fixed glass panel needs bracing so it can’t flex or vibrate when the door is used. A support bar — also called a stabiliser or brace bar — is a slim metal tube that ties the top of the panel back to the wall or to another panel, taking load off the clamps and keeping everything square. Centennial Glass supplies and installs support bars in round and square profiles, matched to your hinges, finish and clamps. Since 1967 we’ve installed more than 1,000 showers a year across Ottawa.
Support Bars We Install

Wall-to-Glass Bars
The most common brace: a bar from the top of a fixed panel back to the wall, stopping the glass from flexing.

Glass-to-Glass Bars
A bar that spans between two glass panels across an opening, bracing both without reaching a wall.

90° Corner Bars
Two bars meeting at a corner connector to brace an L-shaped or neo-angle enclosure in both directions.

Round & Square Profiles
Choose a classic round tube or a modern square profile to suit your hardware and the look of the room.

Brackets & Connectors
The wall flanges, swivel joints and glass clamps that anchor each bar and let it meet the glass at any angle.
Do I need a support bar?
As a rule of thumb, taller fixed panels and wide door openings benefit from a brace, while short or fully-channelled panels often don’t. The safest answer is to let us measure — we’ll tell you whether your layout needs a bar, where it should sit and which profile looks best, then add it to your design in the shower design tool.
