Inline Swing Door With Notched Panel Questions

What is an inline swing door with a notched panel?

An inline swing door with a notched panel is a straight-line door-and-panel layout where one fixed panel has a rectangular notch cut from its base to clear a bench, curb, or tiled ledge.

Why is the panel notched?

The notch lets the glass sit down over a built-in bench, seat, or curb without leaving a gap. Rather than stopping the panel short, we cut it to wrap the obstruction for a clean, finished fit.

Can you notch glass around any bench or curb?

In most cases, yes — tempered glass is cut and notched to shape in our shop before it’s tempered. We measure the bench or curb precisely so the notch matches the tile.

What glass and hardware finishes are available?

Every enclosure is made from thick frameless tempered safety glass, paired with your choice of hardware finish — chrome, brushed nickel, matte black and more — and matching hinges. For help deciding, see our frameless vs. framed guide.

Why choose Centennial Glass for a shower enclosure?

We’ve been Ottawa’s glass company since 1967 — over 55 years of custom shower work — and we install more than 1,000 showers a year. As one customer told us: “It was perfectly cut and the installer Stephane was clearly an expert at his trade.” — Kerry-Lyn B., 5★.

Do you install notched-panel setups in my area?

We’re based in Ottawa and install custom glass showers from Kanata and Barrhaven to Orléans and Stittsville. If you’re not sure a inline swing door with notched panel is right for your bathroom, let’s discuss it — call 613-738-9500 or contact Centennial Glass and we’ll walk through your space, measurements, and options.
