Bypass Sliding Shower Door

Two panels that glide past each other

A bypass slider runs two glass panels on a single top rail so they slide past one another — you get a wide glass wall with no door swinging into the room. It’s the classic choice for straight openings from about 44″ to 72″, and the most popular way to convert a tub into a walk-in glass shower.

Yours is built frameless in 3/8″ tempered safety glass, fabricated in our own Ottawa shop and professionally installed — part of the reason we complete more than 1,000 shower installations a year.

  • Best for: tight bathrooms, wide or tub openings
  • Walk-through: about half the opening width
  • Glass: frameless 3/8″ tempered safety glass

Bypass Sliding Door Questions

What is a bypass sliding door?

A bypass sliding door uses two glass panels on a track that slide past (bypass) each other, so you open either side without any door swinging into the room. It’s ideal for alcoves and tight bathrooms.

What does “bypass” mean?

Bypass means the two panels slide past one another on parallel tracks, like a closet door. There’s always an opening on one side, and nothing swings outward.

Are sliding doors good for small bathrooms?

Very — because nothing swings out, bypass doors work where a hinged door would hit a vanity, wall, or toilet. They’re a popular space-saving choice.

What glass and hardware finishes are available?

Every enclosure is made from thick frameless tempered safety glass, paired with your choice of hardware finish — chrome, brushed nickel, matte black and more — and matching hinges. For help deciding, see our glass shower FAQ.

Why choose Centennial Glass for a shower enclosure?

Every enclosure is cut and fabricated in our own Ottawa shop and backed by a 2-year workmanship guarantee — double the industry-standard one year. As one customer told us: “From the initial booking to the final installation, the staff at Centennial Glass were prompt, friendly and knowledgeable.” — Emma Grace, 5★.
